Brandon Lovett, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Summit Family YMCA, was recently honored as “Volunteer of the Year” for Summit Y.
Lovett was among 24 in the Metro Atlanta area honored at the Y’s annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

A native of Newnan, he has served on the Summit Y Board for three years. He said, “The ‘Partner With Youth’ annual campaign is the vehicle that allows us to touch lives, so it is very important to me. The Y is really about kids and community outreach. It’s about helping families and offering opportunities they don’t have otherwise.

“The Y fills a void with children and their activities by nurturing them,” he continued. Helping them become active and involved young adults in our community is key.”

Lovett said the future of Summit Y is bright. “A continuing partnership with the Board of Education and establishing ourselves in Historic Downtown Newnan and Fayette County are integral for the Y’s mission to go forward.”

Lovett is Director of Water Operations for Newnan Utilities. He also serves on the boards of directors for West Georgia Technical College and Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation and is a Boy Scout den leader.

He and his wife, Lori, have two sons, Will and Cam.
