On Oct. 25, the Georgia Division of Midwest Food Bank, located in Peachtree City, distributed a total of 518 cases of food to nine area agencies. These agencies represent four different counties and serve over 6,000 people monthly.

As Ken King, Midwest Food Bank’s local director of operations, said, “It is such a blessing to offer hope to the hungry and less fortunate”.

A number of energetic volunteers from several local churches gathered on Tuesday morning for general instructions and to offer a prayer for the agencies that were scheduled to receive food.

Volunteers at the food bank served in many functions, from greeting the agencies as they arrived, signing them in, moving their vehicles into the warehouse, using a pick list to keep track of the items of food selected, loading food into their vehicles for the return trip, and general clean-up afterwards.

The agency representatives and the food bank volunteers shared many smiles, encouraging words, and hope as this first day of operations at the food bank unfolded.

Linn Stoller, who is serving as the executive director for the local site, said that many other volunteer opportunities and capital project needs will surface “as God opens the doors and allows us to continue to share the blessings.”
