The recession is continuing but that has not stopped economic development in Coweta County. To that end the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce has hired veteran chamber professional Glen Gould as vice president.

Previously with the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce in Florida, Gould was described by Newnan-Coweta Chamber President Candace Boothby as being a well-seasoned chamber of commerce executive, author and corporate growth guru. His responsibilities with the chamber will include assisting the president and the organization in more effectively directing their energies and to guide the chamber’s staff in their day to day roles, Boothby said.

“Glen has been working with the chamber the past 10 months in the capacity of sales team manager and membership consultant. We’ve seen tremendous results in the short time he has been working with us,” Boothby said. “Glen is especially well-suited to the task at-hand. He has served as Director of Small to Mid Size Business at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and has worked with many large companies in order to inspire their employees to greater productivity. He has also been the president of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce in Florida. Someone with Glen’s credentials and experience don’t become available often and we feel fortunate to have him on board.”

Commenting on his hire, Gould said the move to Coweta reflects a career opportunity in a community that is on the move.

“This is the time to press forward and it’s exactly the responsibility my experience has prepared me for. This chamber of commerce and this truly solid community is a career opportunity for me,” said Gould. “I already love it here and am very excited about things to come.”

Boothby said Gould is known as a business growth and relationship thought leader, adding that he understands chambers and how they connect and has helped many organizations to achieve more through targeted verbal messaging.

“We are fortunate to add someone of Glen’s experience and talents to our Chamber team,” said chamber board Chair Vicki Kaiser. ”In his role as vice president, Glen will oversee membership sales and retention, membership programs, marketing, and Access Coweta.”

Having assumed responsibilities on Sept. 1, Gould and his wife Tammy will move to Coweta with their two sons as soon as possible.
