Six candidates will compete for three Fayetteville elected offices on Nov. 8. Fayetteville citizens can meet the candidates and hear their visions for the future of Fayetteville at a candidate debate on Oct. 18 at The Harvest Community Christian Church.

The church is located at 383 Fayette Place (North Glynn St), Fayetteville, in the old movie theater behind the yellow-front Mexican restaurant.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for a meet and greet with the candidates and the debate will begin at 7 p.m.

The current mayor of Fayetteville, Kenneth Steele, is being challenged by Greg Clifton, a newcomer to politics.

Flat Rock A.M.E. Church pastor Edward Johnson is challenging Wilson Price, who currently represents City Council Post 1. Cathy Cochran and Mickey Edwards are competing for Post 2.

Issues facing Fayetteville that will be discussed during the debate include local sign ordinances, commercial vacancies, future zoning, the Atlanta Regional Commission, the 15 percent increase in sales tax for Fayette County and more.

The decisions made by the winners of the three elected offices will affect Fayetteville for many years, so attend the candidate debate on the 18th and hear the candidates’ solutions to the issues facing Fayette County now and for the future.

Dessert, coffee and bottled water will be available.

Fayetteville citizens may submit questions prior to or at the debate.
