UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Fayette County and east Coweta County for the next several hours, as the rainwater is expected to cause flooding of small creeks and streams as well as larger ones. This warning will expire at 10:30 p.m.
In its 4:30 p.m. report, NWS reported that areas of Peachtree City received two inches of rain in the previous area. Another two inches of rain is possible before the rainstorms move out around 7 p.m. tonight, according to forecasters.
Several city streets are flooded to the point where they are impassable as of 4 p.m. today, police reported in a survey of the city.
McIntosh Trail was overcome by rain water sending the banks of Lake Peachtree over the road at the spillway, it was reported. Significant flooding was reported at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Robinson Road and Peachtree Parkway.
Other low-lying streets are particularly susceptible, as streets in the area of Fischers Luck and Harbor Loop were covered by a significant amount of water, officers reported. Another flooded street was Robinson Road near Crosstown Drive, but one lane was deemed passable enough.
The condominiums at Tinsley Mill will be kept under close watch in coming hours, as the area experiences severe flooding during the heaviest rainstorms. But as of 4:15 p.m. the condominums were OK, officials said.
In Fayetteville, officers were dealing with utility lines down across Grady Avenue near Ga. Highway 85.
