The Peachtree City Rotary Club has changed the date of its “Meet the Candidates” forum.
The forum, which is free and open to the public will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Wyndham Conference Center on Ga. Highway 54 from 7-9 p.m.
The Rotary candidate forum is a political tradition in Peachtree City, allowing city council candidates to introduce themselves to the public at large while also encouraging questions submitted by the audience. For some residents, the experience is invaluable in helping gauge their support for particular candidates.
The Fayette County Local Issues Tea Party also plans to host separate debate forums in October for candidates in Peachtree City, Tyrone and Fayetteville. The date and location of those forums will be announced later this month.
There are two seats up for grabs this November on the Peachtree City Council. The Post 1 race pits Steve Allen of the Bradford Estates subdivision against incumbent Eric Imker. Allen lists his job as being in the field of information technology services.
The Post 2 race will feature Robinson Woods Estates resident George Dienhart and Smokerise resident Scott Brown. Dienhart has worked in the software industry and most recently wrote a column for the Fayette County News. Brown owns his own architectural drafting firm, which he runs out of his home.
Incumbent Post 2 officeholder Doug Sturbaum declined to run for re-election, citing family concerns.
