A woman depositing money in the ATM at Fayetteville’s South Glynn Street Chase Bank after dark July 25 was robbed at gunpoint by a lone assailant, police said.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Debbie Chambers said the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. as a woman approached the ATM to make a monetary deposit.

The woman was in process of making the deposit when a man holding a handgun came up to her and demanded that she give him the money and leave the area, Chambers said.

Chambers said the robber was described as being either Hispanic or as a light-skinned black male.

The woman left the scene and called police from her vehicle, Chambers said, adding that the woman saw the man flee on foot.

Det. Mike Whitlow said investigators will be reviewing the tape from the bank’s video system.
