It is important for leaders and citizens of our communities to understand that the health care crisis is not going to be solved in Washington; It is going to be solved in our individual communities through education, personal awareness, and people making lifestyle changes. Dr Matthew Davis, Director of Crossroads Chiropractic in Sharpsburg and many other local businesses are working very hard in our community to give people the tools they need to take back responsibility for their family’s health and well-being.

Community Wellness Day is a national day focusing on educating our community concerning important information which is critical to the total wellness for our residents.  There will be an array of information on health, safety, environmental and financial wellness.  This event will be taking place in many cities nationwide during a 4-week period in the Spring of 2011.  Our political leaders will be recognizing this as an important day in our community to empower people to take back responsibility for their family’s well being.  The local law enforcement personnel will be on hand to provide important ID information for children, families and seniors.  The local fire department will be providing fire prevention and safety information.  Various community agencies will also be participating and sharing their programs on car seat safety, bicycle safety, internet safety, identity fraud protection, financial literacy information, health screenings, drug/alcohol awareness information, senior services information, and much more.

There will be information available for all ages of our community. Beneficiaries of the event include the Coweta Safe Program, Coweta Community Foundation and other local charities.

Mark your calendars for Sharpsburg’s 4th Annual Community Wellness Day Saturday April 30 from 12-3 p.m., rain or shine, at South Metro Ministries Church, 3935 Highway 34 East, Sharpsburg, Ga. There will be food, fun and entertainment for all including Scott and Charlie from High Octane Radio and The Car Guys TV, Fun 101.1 FM, Atlanta Braves batting cage, McGruff the Crime Dog, Chick-Fil-A Cow, exercise demonstrations by Crossfit Coweta, Zumba, and Karate Atlanta. Educational programs brought to you by Georgia Power, AT&T, US Environmental Protection Agency, and Crossroads Chiropractic. Kids bring your bicycles for the bicycle rodeo sponsored by Newnan Optimist Club and adults bring up to two file-sized boxes or documents to be shredded for free by Shred It. Admission to the event is free.

“I am so proud to be bringing this event to our community. I could not do this alone. I know that each and every one of you value the future health and prosperity of our community as much as I do.  Therefore at this time, I invite all the residents our community to join us as we engage in this cooperative effort that benefits Coweta/Fayette Counties,” noted Dr Matthew Davis. “I would like to personally thank South Metro Ministries and their congregation, local businesses such as Newnan MRI, Quantum Alternative Health Inc, Jump to It, Deidra Bembry at State Farm, Little Peaches Dentistry, Natural Living Centers, The Law Office of Shane Smith, Cumberland Financial, Fitness Spa, Java Tropico, and Salad Express for their support!”
