It’s a way of saying thank you and lending a helping hand. There will be a motorcycle ride fundraiser for 26-year-old Coweta County firefighter Chris Landreau on Mar. 26 in Newnan to help offset expenses from the recent discovery of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The ride event will begin on Mar. 26 at Hooter’s, located at 1001 Bullsboro Drive, and end at Jekyll & Hyde’s, located at 10 The Boulevard #101 off U.S. Highway 29. There will be an auction, door prizes, 50/50 drawings and family events with Jekyll & Hyde’s giving attendees a 10 percent discount for lunch, event organizers said, adding that riders will be asked for a $15 donation per bike and a $5 donation for passengers. Motorcycle or not, everyone is encouraged to attend.
Landreau joined the Coweta County Fire Department in July 2004 and is currently assigned to Rescue 1 on A-Shift.
It was on Feb. 4 that Landreau went to the emergency room with what he thought was a blood pressure issue. But what doctors found was a mass in his chest. Subsequent tests revealed that the mass was cancerous, diagnosed as stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Landreau has been undergoing chemotherapy at Emory Hospital.
There will be another fund-raiser for Landreau on Mar. 24 in Senoia. “Friends for Chris Landreau Day” will be held at Second Hand Sam’s, located at 90 Main Street, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mention that you are a friend of Chris Landreau and Second Hand Sam’s will donate 10 percent of the sales to the Landreau family.
