Emily Breault, a 2008 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School, and now a Mass Media Arts major in the Grady School of Journalism at UGA, recently won first place in the drama category in a short film competition sponsored by Campus Moviefest. She and three fellow students formed Neon Productions for the creation of student films. Their award winning film is called “The Hub” and is a dramatic expose of Atlanta as the hub of underage sex trafficking. Breault was director of photography, lead editor and music supervisor to the film. With winning the UGA competition, the film will now compete in the International Grand Finale to be held in June in Hollywood, Calif.

Campus MovieFest (CMF) is the premier outlet for the next generation of filmmakers. CMF began nearly 10 years ago when four students at Emory University provided students with everything they needed — including camcorders and Apple laptops — to make movies in one week. Since then, more than 250,000 students have told their stories on the big screen, receiving all the necessary technology and training for free thanks to corporate partners and schools.

During this year’s tour, 100,000 students will participate in over fifty events, earning $400,000 in prizes and the chance to see their movies on the big screen at school red carpet finales and one huge year-end International Grand Finale, in addition to showcases on AT&T phones and in-flight on Virgin America. Additional information and thousands of CMF films are available online at campusmoviefest.com.
