One lane on Ga. Highway 74 south near the Flat Creek bridge will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 14 and 15, for construction purposes, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The closings are set for 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day to allow the contractor to set beams for the new bridge that will span Flat Creek as part of the process of expanding the highway to four lanes.
The road will temporarily be closed in both directions while crews hoist and remove beams from the truck, officials said.
Motorists will be directed through the area by flaggers, and all drivers are urged to use extreme caution and avoid travel in the area if possible. If travel is necessary in the area, motorists are asked to reduce their speed for safety.
Personnel and equipment are expected to operate in close proximity to travel lanes on the highway, officials said.
