Accidents happen unexpectedly, and for former Fayetteville resident Trey Bradbury it was a accident that has him paralyzed below the waist and receiving treatment at Atlanta’s Shepherd Spinal Center. Bradbury’s friends are requesting donations to help offset expenses.
The son of longtime Fayetteville resident John Paul Bradbury and former resident Katrina Bradbury, Trey was injured Nov. 9 in the Columbus area when he fell out of a trackhoe and into a boring pit. He suffered severe back injuries that resulted in paralysis below his waist, said friend Jerry Hudgins. The boring pit was about 15 feet deep, Hudgins said, and Bradbury landed on the railroad tracks at the bottom of the pit.
Bradbury in his blog at www.caringbridge.org/visit/treybradbury said he was excited to receive a day pass on Dec. 11 to attend the birthday party of his 3-year-old son, Colton.
Hudgins said Bradbury, now a resident of Gay in nearby Meriwether County, is expected to leave the Shepherd Center around Dec. 21. Friends said he is likely to stay temporarily with his mother in Hapeville. Bradbury on his blog said both his parents have been trained on knowing everything they need to know to assist him after he leaves the center.
Hudgins asked that those interested in providing financial assistance for the expenses not covered by workers’ compensation do so through United Community Bank in Fairburn at 770-964-1551.
There are two ways to make a contribution. One is by check to The Trey Bradbury Fund (account number 2093117972), United Community Bank located at 65 Washington Street, Fairburn 30213.
Donations can also be made electronically by logging in to the your bank and setting up a Bill Pay to the Bradbury fund account.
Hudgins said donations of any amount will be appreciated.
