Carla’s Dance Factory and Georgia Youth Ballet will begin a new exciting holiday tradition this year with the production of “A Nutcracker Christmas Spectacular.”

This show, a collaboration with the Sandy Creek High School chorus and drama department, is designed with the entire family in mind. It truly has something for everyone.

The first act, a Radio City style review, will feature members of the SCHS chorus, guest vocalists and SCHS alumni Jesse Alexander, Brianna Gilliam, Jessica Merrill and the CDF company dancers. Traditional and contemporary holiday tunes will be brought to life life through dance and song. “The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” made famous by the Rockettes is just one of the highlights.

“The Nutcracker, Land of Sweets,” complete with the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, is the second half of the program. The Russian, Chinese, Spanish and Mother Ginger and the Gingersnaps all dance to entertain Clara and the Nutcracker Prince. The Waltz of the Flowers is the prelude to the Grand Pas de Deux of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.

Performances are Friday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at Patriot Hall at Sandy Creek High School. Tickets are $10 and are available by calling Carla’s Dance Factory and will also be available at the box office prior to each performance.
