Lamar and Martha Carver will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at The Historic Fayetteville Train Depot, Saturday Dec.11, from 2 – 5 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Dress is casual attire.
The Carvers met on a blind date in 1958 while Lamar was a student at Georgia Tech. Lamar proposed on Valentine’s Day. They were married on Dec, 10, 1960 in Druid Hills Baptist Church Chapel.
Lamar graduated from Bass High School and from Georgia Tech with a bachelor of electrical engineering degree in 1960. He has worked for Douglas aircraft, Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines, and even owned his own electrical business at one time. He currently works as a consultant avionics engineer at Delta Air Lines. He and Martha built their home in Fayette County in 1974.
The Carvers have two children, Harold David (Hal) and Cassandra Cay (Payne), both graduates of Fayette County High School, and five grandchildren, Cole and Bleu Carver, Cayla and Bailey Hicks and Riley Payne.
