What to do for a senior loved one just beginning to need a little extra help, but determined to remain in their own home? This can be a tough dilemma for family and close friends, especially for those living farther away or shouldering an already-heavy schedule of family or work-related obligations. Luckily, ACTi-KARE Responsive In-Home Care exists to fulfill exactly this niche, providing professional and highly individualized non-medical services to help seniors maintain their independence and dignity while still receiving any and all assistance they may require.
Following their own early retirements from other professions, Paul and Heidi Williams realized that purchasing an ACTi-KARE franchise was the perfect way to continue serving the Fayetteville community while satisfying a passion for working with seniors. Heidi holds a Master’s Degree in Education and spent many years as an educator and then a key administrator in a program for at-risk kids. Paul’s background includes nearly a decade as a General Manager for the Genuine Parts Co, where he worked for 31 years, as well as degrees in both Business Administration and Law. Having taught adults in Sunday School for many years, however, Paul realized after his own retirement that his real love was dealing with seniors.
The Williams investigated several senior service business opportunities before deciding on ACTi-KARE. “After much research, it became clear that owning a company that helps preserve the independence of seniors would be the best way to help individual seniors and their families,” said Paul Williams. “ACTi-KARE offered the most professional plan, not only to be successful in business, but also to successfully help seniors remain independent in their own homes.”
“One of the strengths of the ACTi-KARE system is the wide range of services offered,” Paul continues. “Every senior we deal with has their own individual needs.” Although a respected nationwide franchise, ACTi-KARE is designed with this client individuality in mind, supporting seniors’ own activity levels, independence, and dignity. Highly trained and compassionate ACTi-KARE caregivers can provide companionship, transportation and mobility assistance, help with errands, bill-paying, shopping, and nutritional aid, perform light housekeeping duties and personal care assistance, and more. Many caregivers have prior experience and/or training in caring for those with Alzheimer’s or other special needs, and clients can easily obtain as many hours of support as desired or needed.
“Our flexible programs allow us to design a care plan that will fit the needs of each individual senior,” said Paul. “One size does not fit all in this industry.” ACTi-KARE is ideal for matching the changing and evolving needs of seniors and their families.
Paul and Heidi Williams have lived in Fayetteville for 23 years and in Georgia for well over 30, and raised their two sons – now a police officer and a cardiac surgeon – in the area. The Williams are excited about the benefits their new ACTi-KARE branch will bring to the community. “We work with all ages of seniors, and we are able to work in our own community,” said Paul. “We will always be committed, not necessarily to being the largest service provider in the area, but to being the best provider to our senior clients.”
While one size most certainly does not fit all for ACTi-KARE’s clients, for the Williams, the senior service industry appears to be a natural fit. “At the end of the day, I feel like I have done something good for someone else,” Paul concluded. “Helping seniors to stay independent and in their own homes is a very satisfying life’s work.”
