Planning Commission meeting– Special Called Meeting tonight, October 25
The commission will review proposed amendments to GC and LUC Zoning to establish the maximum size of individual buildings and/ or tenants, review proposed amendments to the Outdoor Display Ordinance regarding hand-held signs and costumes, and consider landscape plans for the Children’s Pediatric Village on Hwy 74 North and Theo’s Automotive on Dividend Drive. Severe Weather Warning Sirens
This morning (October 25), the severe weather sirens went off, and it is a good time to remind everyone of what they mean. The sirens are controlled by the Fayette County 911 Center and are sounded for two reasons: either 1) a Tornado Warning has been issued for our area, or 2) a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for our area, and we are already under a Tornado Watch (meaning tornados are much more likely). In either case, residents should seek shelter and tune to NOAA Weather Radio for updates. Please do not call 911 when you hear the sirens.
Halloween Weekend – Full slate of events
Halloween is Sunday, October 31. The City of Peachtree City does not set or change the date for Trick-or-Treating. Check out a useful list of Halloween Safety Reminders from the PTC Police Department for both children and adults this holiday at www.peachtree-city.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=517 .

– Halloween Haunted House & Trail – Friday & Saturday, October 29-30, 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Leach Fire Station 81 (on Paschall Road at Highway 74 South). Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for children. Optimist Club also hosting a Kiddie Haunt for children 10 years of age and younger for $4.

Peachtree Crossing / Fresh South Market Halloween Party – Saturday, October 30, 10:00 a.m. Events include a pumpkin pie contest, pet parade (Halloween costumes encouraged) and bring a decorated pumpkin for judging – best decorated and most unusual.
– The Avenue Fall Festival & Trick-or-Treating – Saturday, October 30, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Entertainment, face painting, balloon art and more. Bring your pet for a festive family photo.
– Braelinn Center Halloween Party – Saturday, October 30. Pumpkin painting, games and prizes, and best Halloween costume contest with over $600 in gift cards to be awarded. Lots of prizes for kids and adults. Activities start at 5:00 p.m., store-to-store trick-or-treating at 7:00 p.m.
Peachtree City PD participating in “Halloween Heat” DUI crackdown – Friday & Saturday
With Halloween falling on a weekend, the Peachtree City Police Department will be conducting Halloween road-checks and concentrated patrols around the Peachtree City area this weekend to crackdown on drunk drivers in the Peachtree City area. Designate a driver and enjoy the holiday festivities safely.
Path Safety Reminder – 90 miles of public paths, but the golf course paths are private
Canongate, which owns and operates the Flat Creek, Braelinn, and Planterra Golf Courses, has seen an increase in “cut through” traffic on their paths and even across greens and fairways. Residents are reminded that the golf courses are private property, including their golf cart paths, and trespassers can be prosecuted and held liable for the costly damage to the course. Private paths belonging to the golf courses are marked, and non-members are asked to use the 90 miles of public paths. Peachtree City’s new street and path map, which will be available in November, designates which paths are public and which are private (the current map does not show the private paths).
Toys for Tots – Volunteers needed for Fayette & Coweta
Between Santa Claus and the Marine Corps League Detachment 1325, local children in need will have toys to unwrap on Christmas morning. This year, Fayette resident Jeff White and Coweta resident Hank Berkowitz will direct the “Toys for Tots” collection for the two counties. They indicate that what’s needed most this year are funds to purchase toys, and volunteers to make the drive successful. Toys and funds collected locally will be distributed in Fayette and Coweta. Peachtree City will run an updated list of drop-off locations for toys in the coming weeks.

Help Fest will feature local non-profit volunteer organizations providing information on their operations and offer a convenient place for residents looking for ways to volunteer. Peeples Elementary Pumpkin Fun Run – Saturday, October 30, 7:30 a.m., at the school (Hwy 74 South at Redwine Rd.). There will be a 5K run and a one-mile run.
