Fayette County Sheriff’s spokesperson Brent Rowan said Thursday that sheriff’s investigators earlier this week arrest an Atlanta man for identity theft and a Fayetteville man on charges of statutory rape.
On Sept. 22 in connection with an identity theft case that occurred on April 3 investigator’s obtained an arrest warrant for Timothy Smith, 38, of Atlanta and charged him with one count of identity fraud, said Rowan.
The case involved Smith depositing a stolen check in the amount of $82,000 into his bank account, Rowan said. The check was reported stolen from a Fayette County business, Rowan added.
Rowan said investigators made an arrest on Sept. 20 in connection with a statutory rape case which occurred earlier that morning. Investigators arrested Oscar Fuentes Jr., 19, of Fayetteville and charged him with statutory rape and interference with custody, said Rowan.
Rowan said this case involved Fuentes unlawfully harboring a 14 year-old juvenile runaway with whom he had a consensual sexual relationship with in north Fayette County.
