Through local fundraising efforts such as the annual Civitan Great Chili Challenge (October 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Shakerag Knoll) and “Leave No One Behind” Golf Tournament in Peachtree City; placement of candy boxes; and the sale of Claxton Fruitcakes, Vidalia Onions and Georgia Pecans, the Fayette County Civitans support numerous local charitable organizations including the Sams School, Special Olympics, Relay for Life, Southwest Christian Hospice, and many others. Georgia Civitans also strongly support the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham which brings together top scientific minds and the latest technology to create innovative therapies and treatments for people with developmental disabilities.
