Fayetteville Police are still looking for two men wanted in connection with the Sept. 17 attempted armed robbery of a couple outside the Walmart at the Fayette Pavilion. One of the robbers fired shots at the couple as they fled the area but did not hit them.

Detective Mike Whitlow said the incident occurred as the couple was walking in the store’s parking lot at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Sept. 17. The men approached the couple and demanded their wallet and purse, Whitlow said.

“(One of the suspects) demanded the victims’ wallet and purse. The victims were able to escape from the offender who fired two rounds at them not striking either victim or object in the parking lot,” Whitlow said.

Whitlow said neither was struck by the bullets nor otherwise hurt, and the robbers escaped in a maroon SUV with customized wheel rims, police said. Officers and detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence, said Whitlow.

The suspect carrying the handgun was described as a black male wearing a blue shirt and blue hat. His accomplice was described as a black male 5-feet-11 to 6-feet, thin build, wearing a dark short sleeve shirt, dark pants, and a yellow and black hat.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and convictions of the persons responsible. Anyone with information about these suspects or vehicle is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 770-461-4441.
