The SAGE group (seniors 55 and older) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning an outing to include a tour of the Oakland Cemetery, the Margaret Mitchell House, and lunch at Six Feet Under in Atlanta on Oct. 7.

The group will depart from the parking lot next to the Holiday Inn at 9 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. The cost is $25 plus the cost of lunch.

Deadline for registrations is Sept. 29, at which time 15 paid registrations are needed to make the trip.

The Oakland Cemetery, a Victorian garden cemetery, is the final resting place of Margaret Mitchell, as well as that of Civil War soldiers, leaders of industry and civil rights pioneers, and many famous Atlanta leaders and families.

The group will have lunch at Six Feet Under then tour the Margaret Mitchell House, known as the “birthplace” of Gone with the Wind and a museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of Mitchell. Comfortable shoes are suggested.

To sign up, contact Laura Cox, lcox@fayettevillefirst.com, or call 770-461-4313, ext. 16. For more information on Oakland, visit www.oaklandcemetery.com.
