That’s four times in a week. Fayetteville has seen three burglaries at restaurants and one at a dental office in the past eight days. Three occurred over the weekend at the southside McDonald’s on Glynn Street, the La Parrilla restaurant at the Fayette Pavilion and the Dental One Associates office on North Jeff Davis Drive. The other break-in came at the Dairy Queen on North Glynn Street on Aug. 9.
Fayetteville Police Det. Jeff Harris said the McDonald’s burglary happened on Aug. 13 between midnight and approximately 4 a.m. Burglars gained entry to the building after breaking out a door window on the north side of the building, Harris said.
Harris said entry to the manager’s office resulted in the theft of an undisclosed sum of money.
The second burglary occurred Aug. 16, again in the early morning hours. Harris said employees arriving for work at the La Parrilla restaurant at the Fayette Pavilion found a patio door busted open. The restaurant had closed around midnight, Harris said. The burglar also gained entrance to the manager’s office by breaking through that door and stealing an undisclosed sum of money, said Harris.
Third up, and occurring sometime between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, entry was gained at the Dental One Associates office after construction material at the office was removed and an area of drywall was broken through, said department spokesperson Steve Crawshaw.
Crawshaw said the items reported stolen included prescription pads and two portable stereos.
The three burglaries are currently under investigation.
And in the first of the three break-ins, Fayetteville resident David Rasmussen, 28, was arrested last week on burglary charges in connection with the Aug. 9 break-in of the Dairy Queen on North Glynn Street, said Harris.
The burglary occurred in the early morning hours after a rock was thrown through a window on the north side of the building.
An undisclosed sum of money was taken from the manager’s office.
