On August 21, the annual Mighty Men of Valor Conference, facilitated by the NAACP in partnership with the Theta Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity and the Associated of Village Pride, Inc., will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sams Auditorium at the Lafayette Education Center located at 205 Lafayette Avenue in Fayetteville. This year’s conference theme is “Boys to Men: Training in Ethical Leadership & Academic Excellence.”
The conference designed for men (fathers/mentors) and teens at the 9-12 grade levels will be devoted to sessions that share information to encourage participants to claim their rightful inheritance as males who operate with the skills, abilities and character necessary for a life anointed for special purpose.
Special emphasis will be placed on encouraging the students to intentionally strive for excellence in academics and in their lives. The Fayette County Branch invites all fathers/mentors and sons grades 9-12 to participate by registering online via the website at http://www.fcnaacp.org
Forms can also be printed from the website and mailed or given to a member of the MMOV committee at the August 14 Fayette County Branch General Membership meeting.

The conference speakers include Dr. Illya Davis, Rev. Dr. Matthew Vaughn Johnson, Jr. and Dr. Ralph Simpson. The Conference goals are to provide interactive and participatory workshops to meaningfully engage youth participants, to provide a forum for youth participants to discuss healthy choices for their lives and to provide youth participants with a community of support to help nurture their healthy life choices with opportunities to explore post-secondary options.
Men in Action, college representatives from Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, ITT Technical, Atlanta Technical College and Georgia State will be in attendance. The Fayette County Board of Education and Phi Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are also supporters of the conference.
