Over the next few days the Fayette County Public Works department is making several minor changes to traffic patterns in the area of SR 54, Huiet Road and Lester Road. The changes are:
• The intersection of Huiet Road and SR 54 is being closed and replaced with a new intersection at the West Fayetteville Bypass and SR 54. The new intersection will remain stop-controlled until the traffic signal work is installed (several months away).
• Traffic from Huiet Road (i.e., Waterlace S/D and the YMCA area) will be directed onto the Bypass via a new spur.
• The intersection of Waterlace Way (part of Waterlace Subdivision) and Lester Road will be temporarily closed.
Access is being maintained to all schools, businesses, churches and homes in the area. The new traffic patterns will be in place prior to the start of school on August 9th, which has been the county’s goal over the past few weeks, officials said.
County officials are asking motorists to please drive slowly in this area and spread the word to neighbors, family and friends.
