Margaret Nall Spears, a long-time resident of Riverdale, GA and later at Baptist Manor in Palmetto, died peacefully at Lafayette Nursing Home in Fayetteville on July 29, 2010.
She retired from the Atlanta Public School System with over 20 years of service. In later years, she was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Riverdale’s Senior Citizens’ organizations, and her beloved church, Riverdale First Baptist. “Miss Margaret” was a pillar of her church and community. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Spears, Sr. She is survived by three children, Mary Jane Madden and her husband Larry of Rome, GA, James E. Spears, Jr. and his wife Sue of Fayetteville, and Frank Spears and his wife Allison of Atlanta; six grandchildren, Harriette Jacobs, Jimmy Spears, Steven Spears, Kathy Barronton, Andrew Spears, and Elizabeth Spears; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Riverdale First Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Lowe will officiate. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to Riverdale First Baptist Church in her memory.
