My name is Charlie Cave. I am a candidate for Post 4 of the Fayette County School Board. I have been a resident of Fayette County for 17 years. My lovely wife Mary and I have four children and seven grandchildren. Our youngest child was in the first graduating class of Sandy Creek High School and we have a grandchild in the Fayette County School System now.

I enjoyed a lengthy career as a planner/purchasing analyst for Delta Air Lines before entering the banking industry 14 years ago. I have experience in a number of roles in the banking industry including those of mortgage representative, loan officer and business development management.

I have been an active member of our community, having served on various boards of directors including The United Way and Pathway Christian School. I am a member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce where I received the distinct honor of being named Ambassador of the Year for 2009. I also was honored as Kiwanian of the Year for Fayette County in 2005.

My volunteer activities include serving on the E-Splost Committee, External Construction Committee and School Council at Fayette Intermediate School. I serve on the Advocacy Council of Fayette Senior Services and am a volunteer for Fayetteville’s Mainstreet Program. As you can see, I am a dedicated member of our community.

I’ve chosen to run for school board because my banking background and my cooperative spirit would be an asset for our school board during these tough economic times. I promise to always be a good ambassador from the school board to the community. I will work hard to build support for the school system.

Having worked alongside school system personnel, businesses in the community and service organizations I’m ready and able to help lead our system through the 21st Century.

Having regularly attended school board meetings for the past five years, I am aware of many of the issues facing our schools system in the immediate future. My priorities include:

• Exercising fiscal responsibility

• Practicing ethical conduct

• Keeping the most qualified teachers

• Focusing on advancing technology

• Assuring our students are prepared to succeed in a global environment

• Keeping out of county students from enrolling in our schools

• Conserving energy

With your support I will continue to work for our community and our excellent Fayette County Schools so that we will continue to be the leader in providing quality education with results.
