Coweta County commissioners last week unanimously approved the execution of a contract with the Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) that will extend the eastside taxiway at the Newnan-Coweta County Airport.
The GDOT contract specified a total of $771,163 for the “East Apron Taxiway and Stubs” project. The contract gives GDOT responsibility for paying for the bulk of the project, though the majority of the cost, $732,605, will come from federal funds while $17,567 will come in the form of state funds.
The project has a local match of $20,991.
Aside from the expansion itself, the project will led to the opening of 10 additional acres at the facility, airport manager Calvin Walker told commissioners.
