Get ready to ride! Whether on motorcycles or bicycles, members of the Senoia Area Historical Society are inviting the community to the its first “Ride to Make History.” The new benefit ride coming June 5 is geared toward raising awareness of the importance of historic preservation.
The benefit ride will have a motorcycle component and a bicycle component. The motorcycle ride will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Maguire’s and end at the Senoia Area Historical Society house located at 6 Couch Street. Registration will begin at 10:45 a.m. at Maguire’s.
The motorcycle ride will cover more than 80 miles of back country in Coweta County. After the ride, participants can treat themselves to a barbecue, live music, door prizes and a raffle.
Admission is $15 for riders and $5 for additional passengers. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but will be available on the day of the event. The registration fee is tax deductible. Checks can be mailed to SAHS, P.O. Box 301 Senoia, GA 30276.

Riding motorcycles is great, but the Senoia Area Historical Society also wanted bicycle enthusiasts to have their day in the Sun. So the “Ride to Make History” bicycle ride that will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Senoia Children’s Park on Seavy Street. The tour ends at the Senoia Area Historical Society Museum, which will be open for viewing along with snack foods provided.
“It is a ride to view the varied architecture and hear historical tidbits of the National Historical District homes, century-old churches and the sites of films that have been shot, in part, including Fried Green Tomatoes, The War, Andersonville, The Mighty Temptations and Broken Bridges,” said event spokesperson Wendy Maguire, adding that a southsider route of 25,40 or 50 miles will follow the main ride event.
All are welcome for the event. Helmets are required and walking shoes recommended due to frequent stops. A $10 donation is recommended for adults along with a $5 donation for children 13 and under.
Proceeds benefit the Senoia Area Historical Society.
