Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Mark Bartels of Peachtree City, announce the marriage of their daughter, Megan MaryAnne Bartels, to Capt. William Wesley Shelton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clay Shelton III of Memphis, Tenn. The candlelight Nuptial Mass was celebrated Feb. 6, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Memphis. Father Eric Peterson officiated.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a traditional gown of natural silk and alencon lace with a chapel length angel wing veil. She carried a bouquet of roses, gardenias and hydrangeas along with an ivory Catholic Missal, which belonged to her grandmother.
Erin Bartels served as her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carrie Shelton Bush, Meghan Davis, Sandy Hrdlicka, Michelle Petter, Penny Shelton, and Maggie Sommer. Flower girl was Jacquie Leone.
Clay Shelton served as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Mark Bush, Brett Bartels, Elliot Pope, Josh Winters, Brandon Carlson, Tim Leone. Ushers were Wes Scott and Mark Pera. Saber bearers were Mark Ciovacco, Tom Williams, Doug Sims, Josh West, Eli Ward, and Raf Albornoz.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of McIntosh High School and a 2006 graduate of Rhodes College with a degree in business administration. She is currently a senior financial analyst with Mercer Capital, of Memphis, working remotely from Kansas.
The groom is a1999 graduate of Memphis University School and a 2004 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in American politics. He is currently the commander of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment at Fort Riley, Kan.
Following the ceremony, a dinner dance reception was held at Memphis Central Station. The newlyweds honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and now reside in Manhattan, Kan.
