The Rev. Dr. John Richard “Jack” Hill, of Griffin, GA , passed away on April 14, 2010 at the age of 82.
He was a faithful member of the Woolsey Baptist Church. Prior to that, Rev. Hill was the Pastor of Miami Graham Baptist Church for 18 years before relocating to Georgia. He was one who practiced what he preached and each morning he was known to say, “I woke up this morning feeling fine, I woke up this morning with Heaven on my mind.” He was a loving, kind and hard-working man who always put the needs of others first. It was said that “he could make friends with a light pole.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Hill. Rev. Hill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Hill, of Griffin, GA; sons Jeffrey Hill & Debra, Joseph Hill & Pam of Pembroke Pines, FL, Sean Sullivan & Danielle of Griffin, GA; daughters Linda Jean Clark & Charles of Pembroke Pines, FL, Carol McGinnis & Bob of Great Falls, VA, Jeanne Smith & Steve of Reva, VA; grandsons Charles Clark & Carla of Atlanta, Justin Clark & Ryan of Winter Haven, FL, Wesley Clark of Frostproof, FL; grand daughters Ashley Hill, Amanda Hill of Pembroke Pines, FL, Sarah McGinnis of Washington DC and Margaret McGinnis of Great Falls, VA; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Charles “Chuck” Chambers will officiate. Burial will take place in Miami , FL at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
