Mr. Ted Carter Tolar, of Fayetteville, formerly of Hapeville, passed away on April 4, 2010 at the age of 65.
Mr. Tolar was an eight-year Navy veteran who proudly served on the Sturgeon class submarine, the U.S.S. Spadefish. Following his military service, he began a career in the HVAC industry. Ted retired from Delta Air Lines with 27 years service after which he began Tolar Mechanical Service and then later worked for the Gilreath Service Co.
He was a member of the College Park Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margaret Tolar, Jr.; and a brother Samuel Worth Tolar, III. Mr. Tolar is survived by his wife of 36 years, Thelma Tolar, of Fayetteville; daughter Kristy Tolar of Fayetteville; brother Tracy Tolar (Camille) of Newnan; sister Joyce Bishop (Dr. Joe) of Fayetteville; grandsons Dylan Bearden and William Tolar of Fayetteville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Bobby Rylee of McDonough; sister-in-law Shirley Tolar of Newnan; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Dennis Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
