Entries sought in Senoia photography competition

It is all about life’s simple pleasures. A call for entries has been posted for the juried photography competition “Simple Pleasures” that will be hosted by the Veranda Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn and Gallery in Senoia.

Both professional and amateur photographers 18 and over are invited to compete in three categories: Life in Senoia, Life in Georgia and Life in The World at-large. 

Deadline for receipt of entry form, fees and CD with images no larger than 2 MB each is Saturday, May 1. Black and white, sepia, color and manipulated images may be entered in any category.

Photographer Jeremy Harwell, who served as Creative Director for Ralph Lauren in New York before moving with his family to the slower pace of the Georgia countryside, is acting judge for the competition. Mr. Harwell has a photography studio on Main Street in historic downtown Senoia.

Opening reception for the event is Friday, June 11 followed by an Awards Dinner on Saturday, June 12, at which winners will be revealed. Cash prizes will be awarded. 

Selected photographs will be exhibited at The Veranda Inn Gallery, 252 Seavy Street from June 11 through the closing reception on July 16, at which time the People’s Choice Award will be revealed.

The Barefoot Photographer, Donna Rosser, will lecture on Saturday, June 12 from 2-4 p.m. Photographer Gary Gruby who has studios both in Atlanta and Senoia, will lecture on Sunday, June 13 from 3-5 p.m.

All events are free to the public with the exception of the Awards Dinner.

Tickets for the Awards Dinner Saturday, June 12th are $40 per person.
