Franz Schubert’s Piano Trios and the Assad guitar duo will be featured this coming weekend at Clayton State University’s world-famous Spivey Hall.
On Saturday, Mar. 20, David Finckel (cello), Wu Han (piano) and Philip Setzer (violin) will play the Schubert Piano Trios in an 8:15 p.m. concert, preceded by a 7:15 p.m. pre-concert talk.
Finckel and Han rank among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Co-artistic directors of New York’s Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center, they are joined by Setzer, Finckel’s Emerson String Quartet colleague, and a distinguished violinist in his own right. Admission is $40.
The guitar duo Sérgio and Odair Assad will be playing Spivey Hall on Sunday, Mar. 21, at 3 p.m. The Washington Post calls the Assads, “the best two-guitar team in existence, maybe even in history.” These Brazilian-born brothers have set a new standard of guitar innovation, ingenuity and expression. Admission is $40.
