After a long and brave battle against Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and lung cancer, Windel W. Norton, 66, passed away at his residence on March 12, 2010 with his wife, daughter, and youngest brother by his side.

Born Nov. 21, 1943, in Pelham, Ga., to the late Curtis and Ruth Norton, Windel joined the United States Army in 1962. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany where he met his wife, Monika. Upon completion of his enlistment in the Army, he received an Honorable Discharge and they returned to Georgia in 1965.

After residing and working in Tifton and Albany, Ga., he moved his family to Forest Park, Ga. in 1967 where he began a very successful 33 year career with The Big “D”. He loved the airline industry and all of the opportunity it afforded him. Upon his retirement from Delta in 2000, Windel enjoyed working with DAL Global Services as an Consultant.

The best job he ever had, however, was to be Opa to Collin and Chaney as they were his pride and joy and he loved them deeply!
