An investigation that began in October concerning two women who kidnapped and robbed an elderly north Fayette woman after claiming to be police officers has resulted in one arrest. In another case, an Ashburn man has been charged with aggravated child molestation.

Paula Aurelia Youngblood, 55, of Birmingham, Ala., has been charged with impersonating an officer, kidnapping and robbery, according to Fayette County Sheriffs Office spokesperson Brent Rowan.

Rowan said that Youngblood and another woman came to the home of the north Fayette woman on Oct. 7 telling her they represented law enforcement. Dressed in plain clothes, the women produced badges and began questioning the woman, Rowan said.

The elderly homeowner was told that she was being investigated for producing counterfeit money, said Rowan. They also told the woman she needed to give them her money, threatening her with arrest if she failed to comply, Rowan said.

Youngblood and the other impostor then drove the woman to a bank in Riverdale where she withdrew money and gave it to the women, said Rowan, adding that they abandoned the homeowner in Riverdale once they received the money.

Rowan said the investigation into the incident led to the Youngblood’s arrest.

In another case, Rowan said that 17-year-old Ryan Glen Slaybaugh, of Ashburn, has been charged with four counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated child molestation.

Though only a limited amount of information in the case is currently available, Rowan said Slaybaugh is accused of performing sexual acts with a 12-year-old at a north Fayette residence between late November and early February.
