Rufus Pritchett Cheaves

Rufus Pritchett Cheaves, Newnan, died Jan. 18, 2010. He was born Oct. 27, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Moore Cheaves, and all his siblings. He joined the St. John Baptist Church at an early age. Services were at the Jones Hill Chapel United Methodist Church with interment at the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Winnie Rose Cheaves; sons Aldridge and Barbara Cheaves, Christopher and Angie Echols Cheaves, Carl Poindexter, Rev. Reginald and Valerie Poindexter, and Tony Sinkfield; daughters, Karen and Bernard Paige, Melinor Glenn and Ricky Terrell, Zelda and Terry Glenn; 27 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
