Local cadets graduate from RMA

Two young men from Peachtree City graduated this spring from Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville after attending as boarding cadets.

Cadet Lt. Col. Joshua K. Sheek attended RMA from 2012-2015. He served as Battalion Commander, the highest-ranking position in the RMA Corps of Cadets, which consists of more than 500 young men from 26 countries in grades 7-12. His duties included training of the battalion on drill days, commanding the battalion at all formations, and working with his staff and school administrators in coordinating battalion activities to ensure accordance with all Academy regulations.

Sheek was a member of Riverside’s 2014 National Champion Raider Team and the RMA Wrestling Team. He was the recipient of the U.S. Marine Corps Esprit de Corps Award and the Sandy Beaver Medal of General Excellence in recognition of his superior overall leadership, scholarship, integrity, and selflessness.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Sheek of Peachtree City.

Cadet Capt. Trevor K. Higgins attended RMA from 2013-2015. He served as Battalion Security Officer (S-2) for the RMA Corps of Cadets. His duties included inspections of arms and supplies, supervision of cadet guardroom operations, preparation of the duty roster, and coordination with campus security.

Higgins was a member of Riverside’s 2014 National Champion Raider Team, the RMA Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) Club, the RMA Horton Society, and the RMA Honor Council. He was the recipient of the Reserve Officers Association Award and the JROTC Achievement Award.

He is the son of Lt. Col. and Mrs. John Higgins of Peachtree City.
