Action Ministries has begun delivering lunches to nearly 400 children 5 days a week for the summer.

Eighteen religious organizations participate, making sandwiches, assembling the lunches, and taking them to the children’s homes.

They include Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Word of God Lutheran, Antioch Community Baptist, Olivet Baptist, Peachtree City First Baptist, New Vision Church, Islamic Community Center, Islamic Speakers Bureau, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Peachtree City Ward), St. Andrew’s-in-the-Pines Episcopal, and these Presbyterian churches: Peachtree City First, Fayette, The Summit, and Evergreen; and these United Methodist churches: Peachtree City, Fayetteville First, Inman, and Merrill Chapel.

Some allied services are offered. For four years Christ Our Shepherd has collected gently used, age-appropriate books to distribute to children with their lunches.

Fayette County’s Division of Family and Children Services suggests names of students who receive lunch support during the school year, and The “Smart Lunch-Smart Kid” program of Action Ministries organizes and supervises the work. Volunteers and financial support are welcome. Contact chall@actionministries.net.
