Fairburn Police want residents of Fayette and Coweta counties to be aware of traffic issues which will be present at the Fairburn Fall Festival in the downtown area on Oct. 4.

The festival starts with a parade that begins at 9:30 a.m. A large section of U.S. Hwy. 29 / West Broad Street through downtown will be closed off for the parade. This effectively blocks anyone traveling on Ga. Highway 92 north from Fayette County.

There are several alternates available, the easiest probably being Ga. Highway 138 from Fayette County through Fairburn to completely avoid the downtown area.

The only other area of concern is GA. Highway 74. The roadway will be open, but anyone taking Hwy. 74 into downtown Fairburn as part of their route will be blocked once on Hwy. 29. Officers at the various road closings should be able to direct drivers as needed.

The main point is that anyone planning on driving through downtown Fairburn this Saturday morning should find an alternate. The roads will be reopened following the parade.
