Michael Sawecki will be exhibiting his artwork at the Peachtree City Library from Nov. 4 through December of this year.

Sawecki works mostly in acrylics, but finds inspiration in the works of other artists, authors, and musicians, such as Francis Bacon, Thomas Ligott, and Nick Cave.

“I enjoy the juxtapositions of somewhat dark subject matter against the colorful, expressive execution of that subject,” he said.

Sawecki has received several degrees including a bachelor of fine arts from Detroit’s College of Creative Studies, a teaching certification from Georgia State University, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Clayton State University. An art teacher with the Fulton County School System for the last 10 years, Sawecki continues to create and exhibit his artwork throughout the state of Georgia. Sawecki works locally with the Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone and regularly exhibits at the Arts Clayton Gallery in Jonesboro, where one of his paintings is part of the permanent collection.

An “After Hours” artist’s reception will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 7-8:30 p.m. on the main level of Peachtree City Library. This event is free and open to the public.
