Karla Dietmeyer and Olivia Hahn, also known as “The OK Factor,” will present a concert on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.

Olivia (O) and Karla (K) met when both were students in classical music at Luther College. They began collaborating in 2012, joining forces to form an alternative folk duo which experiments in a number of genres, including bluegrass, jazz, and popular music. The OK Factor writes original music and also embeds traditional fragments into their own compositions.

Olivia is the cellist, Karla the violinist. They have played at jazz clubs (including Georgia Shrimp Company), concert halls, churches, schools, the Iowa State Fair, and National Public Radio. Their summer includes at least 16 engagements in four states. In addition to writing/composing and performing, they are equally passionate about music education, conducting workshops at all grade levels where they teach and encourage young players.

According to a review in the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier, “Their music fills the room, making it hard to believe that only two instruments are creating the sounds, and they pull the audience in with their unorthodox style of playing.”

The OK Factor’s debut album, “Water Street,” came out in February of this year. It is available, along with their Christmas CD, on their website, www.theokfactor.com

Karla grew up in Christ Our Shepherd, and she is a 2009 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School. She was a featured player on three compact discs recorded by GraceFlock Band.

There is no admission charge for the concert, but donations will be requested.
