In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, an Eagle Scout Court of Honor was convened on Oct. 11,at the Calvin Center in Hampton, Ga.

Starting as a six year old Tiger Cub in Troop 118,Grafmiller’s first experience in scouting was the beginning of 12 years filled with camping, hiking, and the development of patriotism, citizenship and character. While only three percent of all boys who enter scouting achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Grafmiller joins an impressive group of individuals who are also Eagle Scouts such as former President Gerald Ford, former U. S. Senator Sam Nunn, astronaut James Lovell, and director Steven Spielberg.

Grafmiller is a three year varsity runner for the Whitewater Cross Country team, and it is because of this involvement that he selected a project that would benefit the Calvin Center, where the team frequently trains and co-hosts the Decision Bridge race. He decided to further complete a 300 foot walkway from the main camp to the lake side worship area. The boardwalk allows camper to avoid the mud and enables handicapped campers better access to the worship area.

Grafmiller is a senior at Whitewater High School where he is a member of Beta Club, German Club, and Class of 2010 Executive Board and participates in varsity Cross Country and Track. Also, an active member of New Hope South’s youth group, and enjoys serving at homeless shelters with his Bible study class. He is the son of Jim and Lisa Grafmiller.
