Tyrone will soon be losing Town Manager Chris Venice and Town Clerk Nancy Goedker. Venice will be leaving at the end of the year while Goedker’s resignation will take effect at the end of September.

Mayor Don Rehwaldt on Thursday said Venice was excercisingexercising to vacate her position at the end of her two-year contract effective at the end of December.

Contacted Thursday, Venice said she would be returning to Tennessee where she and her husband purchased a home after selling theirs in south Fayette County earlier this year.

Venice has a federal lawsuit pending against Fayette County where she served as county administrator. Venice in the suit alleges that she was asked to resign in April 2007 because of her gender.

Also leaving town government is Town Clerk Nancy Goedker after nearly a year of service. Goedker moved to Tyrone from Strafford, New Hampshire two years ago to work with Operation Mobilization and was hired as town clerk in October 2008. Goedker will remain on staff until the end of September.

Goedker said she is moving back home to help care for her elderly parents and hopes to get back into missions work.

Tyrone is advertising both jobs on the Georgia Municipal Association website.
