In light of information that I received after the article, “Tyrone police solve entering auto cases,” was published, I would like to provide your readers with some clarity on behalf of the Hullett family:
Kim Hullett located items that she suspected to have been stolen in a closet in her home after returning from a vacation and confronted her step-daughter about them.
This led them to contact the parents of Trey Mabry to advise them of the incidents here in Tyrone. Mr. Mabry’s father located more suspicious items in his son’s possession and contacted the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office to report his son and the suspected stolen items.
Our officers confirmed that the items in Mabry’s possession were from our cases and Mabry was placed under arrest.
After being contacted by our detectives about their daughter’s suspected involvement, the Hulletts were fully cooperative and brought Ashley in for questioning and encouraged her to cooperate. The information she provided allowed our detectives to recover a good portion of the stolen items and resolve this case.
I provide this information in the interest of fairness to the Hullett and Mabry families as the article provided only vague information about how the investigation led to the arrest of their children.
Both families made a very difficult decision in turning their children in to the police and we appreciate their honesty and their cooperation.
