What we’ve learned about Palin

After the nomination of and acceptance speech by the Republican vice presidential candidate, what have we learned so far?

Sarah Palin is extremely anti-choice, she believes God sent us into Iraq, and she’s a proud, card-carrying member of the NRA.

Most everyone knows I am pro-choice, and I had hoped that this election would not bring up the issue of choice. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and while I truly wanted to do my utmost to listen to all the issues and not vote based on one that is so extremely divisive, upon learning of Governor Palin’s stance on rape and incest, I realized that while I am way old enough not to worry about it, for many women this could be one of the most urgent issues to be focused on.

So I once again open myself up to verbal beatings and derision if this letter is printed, by imploring both men and women to look closely at all the issues, and remembering that for the majority of women, choice does not mean birth control. It is an agonizing decision that should not be brought into the political arena to garner votes.

Sarah Palin CHOSE to keep her baby. Her daughter CHOSE to keep her baby and marry her boyfriend. All women are asking for is the same right if they CHOOSE another path.
