Asden Wolfe Johnson is known throughout the county as the woman who volunteers. She has volunteered in numerous areas in Fayetteville over the last 25 years.

Johnson organized the first Tour of Homes for her church as well as the annual craft fair 18 years ago to give to local charities. As a breast cancer survivor, she started a cancer support group in her church. She and her husband spearheaded the efforts to begin a pre-school in their church. She has served with the United Way and participated in and supported The Joseph Sams School.

Johnson was the fund raising chairman, the secretary, vice president and president of the Youth Protection Home and was honored to have a second home built named the Asden Johnson Home. She also joined efforts with Eilene Patton and started the Thrift Shop, a not for profit organization, where people can bring items to be sold back to the public. The money is divided evenly between the Youth Protection Home and Promise Place, a home for battered women. Over $1 million has been given to both groups.

As a token of appreciation to Johnson, she was named the first recipient of a Community Service Award given by the James Waldrop Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
