Need to know how to change your car’s oil? Or how often you should change your spark plugs?

Thanks to a partnership with Gale, the Peachtree City Library is the place to go for quick online access to repair, maintenance and service information on the most popular cars, trucks, vans and SUVs on the road today.

With the addition of ChiltonLibrary.com to Peachtree City Library’s collection of online resources, experienced mechanics, do-it-yourselfers and students in the automotive trades now have a 24-hour, on-call “mechanic” to provide information on numerous automobile makes, including Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, Honda and Toyota.

A valid library card and an Internet connection is all that’s required to access ChiltonLibrary.com – Peachtree City Library patrons can browse this powerful resource from the library or from their home (or garage!), as long as they can connect to the Internet.

With more than 50 years of information on actual auto tear-downs provided in step-by-step procedures, work on the engine, chassis, electrical, drive train and suspension, for example, is made easier with ChiltonLibrary.com’s photos, illustrations and repair procedures.

What’s more, ChiltonLibrary.com includes these features:

· Domestic and import vehicle information through the current model year, with updates added monthly.

· Easy printability, thanks to small content chunks which allow users to print only the information they need.

· Clear navigation, using alphabetically arranged, consistent headings.

· Individual tabs for repair, maintenance or recall/technical service bulletins.

· Explanation of trouble codes to help users easily identify the problem with their vehicle (today's automobiles’ computerized systems provide trouble codes but do not explain what the code means).

For more information, contact the Peachtree City Library’s Reference Desk at 770-631-2520.
