Every year teachers new to the Fayette County School System, whether they are a first year teacher or 25-year veteran, are invited to take part in a week-long session to help them become familiar with the county’s teaching philosophies, professional expectations and services. New teachers are also introduced to key county office administrators.

“This event is designed to help you make a smooth transition into Fayette County Schools,” said Terri Gaspierik, director of secondary improvement and professional learning, during the teacher induction kickoff breakfast. “You will learn how to create relationships, increase your knowledge of resources and formulate a support system for yourself.”

On the last day of induction, teachers report to their assigned schools where they are paired with a mentor to help them become acquainted with the facility and procedures.

All teachers will report back to school August 6 for pre-planning in order to get ready for the return of students on August 13.
