Tyrone Police are seeking information related to an armed robbery near midnight Monday at the BP/Amoco station on Ga. Highway 74 and Tyrone Road. No one was injured in the incident.

Police described the robber as a black male wearing a black mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt and gloves, said Tyrone Public Information Officer Capt. Brandon Perkins. The man was also described as being approximately 5’7” in height and weighing 160-170 pounds, Perkins said.

Perkins said that upon entering the store at 11:35 p.m. the man produced an unknown type of handgun and demanded that the clerk open the cash registers. The man also took the money from cash boxes under the counter before forcing the clerk into the office where he made her lie on the floor, Perkins said.

No description of the vehicle was available.

In a related issue, Perkins told town council members Thursday that a ski mask had been found by employees at a business on Flat Creek Trail off Tyrone Road. The mask is in the possession of police, though it is not known at this time if the mask was the one used in the armed robbery, Perkins said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Capt. Brandon Perkins at 770-487-4732.
