Before the holidays, students at both J.C. Booth Middle School and McIntosh High School enjoyed lively, informative and inspirational presentations from Space Shuttle Mission Commander Colonel Rick Searfoss, who was in Peachtree City visiting longtime family friends, Ron and Cele Eifert.

Searfoss has piloted two Space Shuttle missions and commanded a third, with over 939 hours in space and 5400 hours flying time in 61 different types of aircraft. His first space flight in 1993 set the record for the longest duration Space Shuttle mission.

In 1996 he piloted Atlantis to the Russian space station Mir. He was the commander for the STS- 90 Neurolab, the most complex science research space mission ever. Searfoss was the number one graduate of the US Air Force Academy in 1978. His presentations at Booth and McIntosh focused on space and scientific research as well as leadership, teamwork, and personal excellence.
