A delegation of 19 government and business leaders from the German Federal State of Saxony recently visited Atlanta and participated in the 11th annual GACC South Gala. Saxony was the featured partner at this year’s gala hosted by German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States (GACC South) on Sept. 30 at the Westin Buckhead in Atlanta. Fayette County resident Robin Spratlin served as the gala chair.

The gala, which attracted an attendance of 470, featured a VIP reception, silent auction, dinner and dancing to Tony Winston and the Mondo Swing Orchestra. A one-year lease on a 2007 Porsche Cayman S was given away at the end of the evening. The winner was Ronald Grosse, president of IPF America Inc., which has offices in Montgomery, Ala., and Norcross, Ga. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States, which has provided support and services to the German American business community for more than 25 years, has a membership of close to 600 members in 11 southern states ranging from Texas to North Carolina. The chamber’s mission is to promote and strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations between Germany and the Southern United States.
